"Each Saturday evening, I try to take a little time to sit at the piano and improvise as a way of capturing a very personal, spiritual moment. I visualize a place or an event from my past week's experience which has been meaningful for me, and then... try to 'play it.' Almost always, these days, the inspiration seems to be related to the beauty, the wonder, or the people of the Vancouver Island area I call home. In Spring of 1999, I turned on the recorder for some of these Saturday night personal sessions with nothing pre-written, no re-takes, and no 'sweetening' with other instruments.
